Testing of electrical equipment is required and manufacturers provide this information in their operating manuals. However, many maintenance personnel believe that as long as electrical equipment is functioning, it will continue to do so until some catastrophic event occurs. From the moment electrical equipment is installed and energized, deterioration occurs. Electrical equipment deterioration is normal. but equipment failure is not inevitable. Deterioration can be accelerated by factors such as environment, overloading, severe duty cycle or improper selection installation of equipment. An effective Preventative Maintenance program identifies and recognizes these factors and provides measures for coping with them. In addition to normal deterioration, there are other potential causes of equipment failure that may be detected and corrected through Electrical Preventative Maintenance. Among these are improperly chosen protective devices, changing voltage conditions, circuit alterations, load additions and improperly set protective devices. Without a preventative maintenance program, management assumes a much greater risk of a serious electrical failure and its consequences. An aggressive maintenance program will reduce accidents, save lives, and minimize costly breakdowns and unplanned shutdowns of critical equipment and facilities. Anticipated problems can be identified and solutions applied before major problems occur and more expensive solutions are required. Electrical preventative maintenance is a form of protection against accidents, lost production and a loss of profit. Insurance studies have shown that for every dollar spent on electrical preventive maintenance, approximately three dollars will be saved from damages due to fire, equipment replacement and facility shutdowns. High Voltage Electric can provide you with a preventative maintenance schedule that meets both your needs and your budget. Please call us before the lights go out.
